On Thursday morning, a life-size silver film canister arrived at my house, which was exciting, since I had never seen anything packaged like this before. As it turns out, what was inside was even more creative than the presentation: a chic statement sweater from Forever 21’s collaboration with Kodak, the iconic camera company. Along with the sweater came an invitation that was printed on an oversized roll of film, keeping in theme with Forever 21’s latest partnership.
The “Keep it Reel” event hosted by the two companies took place on Friday, September 7th at There-There, an art gallery in Hollywood. I took my dad as my date, and we had a great time at the party, which included a photography exhibition, a dark room, lots of interactive photo booths, and live entertainment. The four featured artists, all of whom are fashion photographers, helped photograph the F21 x Kodak fashion campaign: Warren Elgort, Krissy Saleh, Jordan Keith, and Jared Kocka.
Although my dad readily admits that he still doesn’t understand the rules of social media, my dad noted that the entire night was very Instagram-worthy. There were even multiple photo booths present at the event!
To celebrate the evening, I wore the colorful sweater that Forever 21 sent me and teamed it with a pair of flared jeans, black suede ankle boots, and a red satchel. In order to further highlight the sweater’s bold hues, I wore red lipstick while sticking to an otherwise minimalist makeup look.
After the party, my dad and I went to one of my new favorite restaurants, Odys + Penelope, which is located on La Brea Avenue. My dad ordered their pasta of the day, and I tried the Oak Grilled Salmon, which was delicious. We also split a few different starters, including their raw hamachi and grilled brussels sprouts— we were stuffed at the end of this meal to say the least, but it was absolutely worth it!
