Driving through the Santa Monica Mountains, you might expect to find a few hiking trails, some breathtaking ocean views, and deserted canyon roads. Although all of these things certainly exist, also tucked into the mountain range is a wonderful restaurant named The Topanga Table. As noted on its website, the restaurant prides itself on its sustainability practices. Every item on the menu is sourced locally, and the majority of the food served is organic.
The menu mainly consists of healthy California fare: avocado toast, arugula salads, gluten free pancakes, you get the idea. However, the restaurant also serves some less healthy options, one of my favorites being their french toast, which is topped with peach compote and whipped cream.
Not only is the food served here delicious, but the service is excellent. Also, all of the waiters are patient and can accommodate any allergies and dietary restrictions that diners may have. Additionally, the ambiance is rustic yet sleek, but there’s no need to dress up to dine in Topanga. California casual is the way to go!
I dined at The Topanga Table for breakfast earlier this week, and it was surprisingly crowded, even on a Monday at 10am. I recommend arriving on the earlier side for any meal, especially given that parking is highly limited.
Overall, I would recommend The Topanga Table to anyone looking for a hidden (literally and figuratively) healthy restaurant. Also, it’s fun to make a day trip out of it– go for a hike, take in the ocean breeze, and then have a giant breakfast afterwards!
The Topanga Table is located at 1861 North Topanga Canyon Blvd, Topanga, CA 90290. Their hours are 8am to 3pm every day of the week and until 4pm on weekends. Sadly, they do not serve dinner.
