Ever since I was a young child, I have always appreciated the power of photography. My grandmother lived with my family and me for 12 years of my life, and she was an incredible photographer and artist; she truly inspired the passion for art and beauty that I possess today. The Annenberg Space for Photography, located in Century City, is a wonderful place to view fantastic exhibits from photographers from all around the world.
Recently, I visited one of their current exhibitions titled REFUGEE. Through a series of images created by five internationally acclaimed photographers, the exhibit explores the impacted lives of refugees that are currently displaced all over the globe. The series features photographs taken in Cameroon, Bangladesh, Colombia, Croatia, Germany, Greece, Mexico, Myanmar, Serbia, Slovenia, and the United States. The thought-provoking collection of images provides greater insight to the ongoing predicament that refugees face today, including day-to-day survival and their hopes and dreams for a better future. REFUGEE runs until August 21, 2016.
